Dechra 3D Packaging
A revolution in cost saving.
THE CHALLENGE
Having acquired several companies in Europe and the US, Dechra Veterinary Products, an international pharmaceutical company, needed to update its entire packaging portfolio with new imagery and languages. They asked us to shoot and retouch over 60 new product shots, all to appear on their new website. With very few of the current packs available in one place, and the requirement for so many solo and group shots, it was clearly going to be an extraordinarily time-consuming and costly project.
THE SOLUTION
With our digital and artwork teams recently fully trained in the latest 3-D software, we had an idea. What if we could virtually recreate the packaging in-house, to save on photography costs? No need to waste valuable man- hours tracking down existing packaging from all over Europe or to spend money retouching packaging that was past its prime. Just perfect, pristine packaging that could be updated with new designs – instantly.
This approach gave us so much flexibility in terms of grouping the various products across the portfolio and getting shots from different angles, as well as making the translation of packs into 10 different languages incredibly simple.
Because we were recreating perfect boxes from scratch, instead of relying on shooting and retouching old packaging, this also ensured all of the products had never looked better – giving Dechra the polished and professional image its international product portfolio deserves.
THE RESULT
Dechra saved thousands. Using the 3D approach to generate packaging cost around 50% less than a traditional photography shoot and the associated retouching costs.
Not to mention the time and headaches we saved not having to search for all those bottles and boxes!
This simple solution has helped Dechra maintain consistency across all of its brands in Europe and America, while also making it quick, easy and inexpensive to update packaging in the future.
Now that the pack shapes are already created, we have so much flexibility. The packs can be viewed from any angle and then rearranged into various group shots without the need to reshoot, saving even more money in the long term. A brilliant result all round.
