Why do millions of sardines migrate from the South African coast over 1,000km to Kwa Zulu-Natal waters every year? And where do they go afterwards?

No-one knows. But the Sardine Run Association is trying to find out.

It’s important because the sport and tourism it attracts is having an adverse effect on the ecology and economy of the countries along the route.

This Web site is us playing our part to get tour operators, fishermen and local communities to gather more information about The Run so this ‘greatest shoal on earth’ can be enjoyed by all.

Oh, and there’s some pretty awesome pictures of sea life, too.
